85: Lord of the Rings : The Fellowship of the Ring

The best fantasy movie of all time? Or, a dated, slow and hollow take on the fantasy genre?! We feud, you decide!  On this week's feud, the guys find themselves in a tricky situation as they take on the much beloved, critically acclaimed first part of Lord of the Rings series - The Fellowship of the Ring. Vikram gives away his true feelings about this series even before the coin toss, while Vidur remembers the movies as overhyped and fails to understand the haphazard way in which the story unfolds. He keeps calling Saruman Salman, much to Vikram's ire, while Vikram gushes over the way the Ring is treated as the antagonist by the script and is fleshed out like any character is. The feud comes to a head when the inevitable comparisons with Game of Thrones escalate, with both guys not being able to find any common ground.  EXCEPT - Andy Serkis is bau5 (he's not even in this one you tools). Nonetheless, expect a lot of "My Precious" bombs throughout this one. Let us know who you think won the feud by reaching out on  facebook, instagram or twitter. Comparisons to The Illusionists are dealt with quickly, followed by some more interesting comparisons to 90s Bollywood movies. Things heat up when Scarlett Johansson and Andy Serkis get insulted. Vidur insists this is the least unnecessary use of Michael Caine in a Nolan movie while Vikram gets sick of hearing about magical realism. They discuss crazy fan theories, whether scientists are obsessed by magic, and the prestige of The Prestige. Let us know who you think won the feud by reaching out on  facebook, instagram or twitter. On this week's feud, Vikram and Vidur assume the avatars of Jai and Veeru respectively to feud one of the biggest Bollywood films of all time - Sholay. The difference is that instead of Jai’s trick coin, they use the impartial Film Feud coin. And instead of being BFF outlaws who take on a revenge mission in a small village where they both find love, they simply sit in a studio and feud. They realize they both have reverence for iconic dialogues and commend how the comedian Asrani has aged. Things heat up when Dharmendra is compared to Arnold Schwarzenegger and Asrani is compared to Charlie Chaplin. Vikram points out that the given name for the genre is curry western not spaghetti western. Vidur points out all the progressive and feminist choices in the movie. The most hated Star Wars movie of all time? Or, a touching story that perfectly encapsulates Anakin's evil turn? We feud, You decide! This week, the guys feud the most touchy subject in Star Wars history - Attack of the Clones. Vikram blasts out the gate talking about why this movie is solely responsible for Star Wars being hated and claims to "solve" the Star Wars problem (be eliminating this movie from the list - Genius). Vidur talks about how important it was to show "Annie" and Padme's love story as a precursor for his turn to Darth Vader. They both find common ground on the CGI, but not much else. Vikram derides the story and acting while Vidur clings on how this movie is quintessentially Star Wars- great CGI, Anakin turning to hate and anger and the relationship between master and padowan. Their arguments fluctuate between extremely high brow and extremely low brow. The feud intensifies when Vidur's art credentials are questioned and comparisons are made between the film and trashy EDM. They feud, you decide!  On this week's feud, Vidur and Vikram debate a “homegrown” top rated movie, 2018’s bollywood phenomenon - Andhadhun. Vidur refuses to be blinded by the hype around this new entrant to the IMDB top 250 while all Vikram can see is that it 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. After they get the blind puns over with and a brief discussion about whether its the year of Radhika Apte, Vidur brings up various movies and directors that did it better, including Andhadhun’s director Sriram Raghavan himself in his previous work, the Coen brothers and Woody Allen. Things heat up when Vikram can’t take it anymore and begins revering the most famous sequence from the movie, calling it jaw dropping. Vidur puts on his technical hat and starts complaining about camera angles and blocking. 55: Joker

A disjointed performance within a mediocre movie? Or, the best adaptation of a legendary character? We feud, you decide! On this week's episode, the boys debate the highly anticipated - Joker. They reach common ground fairly quickly regarding Joaquin Phoenix's performance. Vikram's argument hinges on how the performance doesn't gel well with the movie, harming the overall impact it had on him while Vidur thinks they're 2 sides to the same coin and thought it enhanced the movie. After that, the guys get into an absurd discussion of who the best Joker was (the legendary Raj Kapoor features on this list) which successfully tilts Vikram. Ending theories, gushing over the score and some (deserved?) criticism of Todd Phillips leads this feud to its natural conclusion. The feud is evenly matched - like a T Rex versus a swarm of Raptors. Vikram expertly confounds Vidur between David and Richard Attenborough before pointing out how John Hammond should be bankrupt and more concerned about his grandchildren. Vidur mocks Vikram’s lack of wonder and inability to grant how good the special effects were. Things quickly escalate when John William’s legendary score is questioned. Vikram's dislike for ewoks is brought to the fore straight off the bat, while Vidur keeps gravitating towards the character of the Emperor- evidenced by his continued impersonation of him. They haven't watched it in a while and are excited for the rewatch.  Vikram chooses to start off with a bold negative comparison - John Carter. He mocks Kurt Russell's name in the movie and claims volume 2 was a bad recreation of volume 1. Vidur protests by explaining that the film fleshes out backstories and pulls on heart strings better than volume 1. They approach the coin toss with plenty of anxiety, since both of them are MCU superfans and neither of them have seen Avengers in a long time.  Vidur chooses to start off by talking about Hawkeye and his non-super superpowers while Vikram can't stop fan-boying over the action and the comedy. Things take a weird turn when Vidur begins his unintentional homages section and claims a famous scene from the battle of new york to be a ripoff of a popular pixar movie. Despite being on the opposite side, Vikram has to give it up for Vidur’s songwriting and singing skills. Straight out of the gate, both of them profess their love for Nolan, which bites Vikram in the ass once he gets tails. But like a true feuder, he picks apart the movie, specifically the plot holes, which Vidur tries his best to help Vikram understand. That is followed by the worst rendition of Je Ne Regrette Rien (the song in the movie guys), which Vikram absolutely decimates. They finally discuss how Vikram feels Vidur has been "incepted" that this is a good movie and before Vikram can jump into another balling take on the song, Vidur decides to call it a day.  Don’t forget to let us know who you think won the feud on facebook, instagram and twitter. After they get the blind puns over with and a brief discussion about whether its the year od Radhika Apte, Vidur brings up various movies and directors that did it better, including Andhadhun’s director Sriram Raghavan himself in his previous work, the Coen brothers and Woody Allen. Things heat up when Vikram can’t take it anymore and begins revering the most famous sequence from the movie, calling it jaw dropping. A pathbreaking movie that redefined the action genre? Or, a mindless CGI fest that should have been a video game? We feud, you decide! This week, the guys feud everyone’s favourite movie from 1999 - The Matrix. Everyone except Vikram that is. Vidur begins with a 1 minute soliloquy about his love for this movie, which is rudely interrupted by Vikram, who can't get over Keanu Reeves' stone face acting. Vidur goes on to talk about the deep seated meaning of this movie, linking Neo to Jesus, much to the chagrin of Vikram. The feud gets heated when Vikram brings up the inexplicable ending, while Vidur digs deeper with what this movie is actually trying to portray (there was some talk about Socrates in there). Vikram immediately claims its the best Marvel movie ever and is met by scoffs from Vidur, who can’t get over how many of the characters are blue. The feud heats up when Vidur compares the movie to DC’s Suicide Squad and even starts mocking the music in the movie. 34: BONUS: Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

A male-bonding bromance movie done right? Or a weak attempt at being the next Dil Chahta Hai? We feud, you decide! On this week’s bonus episode from Film Feud Bollywood, Vidur and Vikram feud Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. They kick if off with some common ground when they agree that the perfect English title for the film would be YOLO. Vidur starts gushing about the film right from its opening scene where upper class aunties singing Wind Beneath My Wings off key resonates with him. Vikram describes the film as cringe and pushes back at its depiction of bros. Before they can plan their own bro trip to Spain, the feud gets heated when Vidur tells Vikram which character from the movie he is. Some takeaways from the feud include - Kalki Koechlin's last name must be said nasally, Katrina Kaif does not know how to ride a motorcycle, and Hrithik Roshan is always modeling no matter what his character is. 33: Pirates of the Caribean : The Curse of the Black Pearl

Best swashbuckling movie of all time? Or, a theme park ride pretending to be a movie? They feud, you decide! On this week's episode, the guys feud over the 2003 smash hit, The Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl. The guys talk about the obvious point of contention - Johnny Depp. Vikram thinks it's his best on screen portrayal yet, while Vidur believes it's too OTT (that's over the top btw). Vidur fears the ride it's based on might be more fun than this movie, while Vikram loves how this movie made pirates cool again. The feud continues endlessly until the guys find some common ground over the dialogue writing and Kiera Knightley's acting (not fans FYI). All in all, if you want to hear some bearable pirate impressions, this one's for you! 32: Lord of the Rings : The Fellowship of the Ring

Don’t forget to vote and let the guys know who you think won this feud and also any arguments you might have made on facebook, instagram and twitter. The best movie twist of all time? Or, another disappointment from the "Night" train? We feud, you decide!  On this week's episode, the guys battle it out over 1999 runaway hit The Sixth Sense. The feud starts with the supposed genius of India's very own M. Night Shyamalan. Vidur agrees that he might have peeked too soon, while Vikram thinks he hasn't peeked at all. Vikram brings up fallacies in the script, with Vidur complementing how this movie is a great rewatch. The feud comes to a head when Vikram can't get over the obsession with Haley Joel Osment - or "Loanshark" as Vikram refers to him as.  Parting joke - What do the Sixth Sense and Titanic have in common? I "sea" dead people. (Lol?) Don’t forget to vote and let the guys know who you think won this feud and also any arguments you might have made on facebook, instagram and twitter. 30: Mad Max Fury Road

An epic heavy metal action bonanza? Or, a never ending chase to nowhere? We feud, you decide!  This week, the guys feud over George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road. Vidur can't get over the visual styling of this movie, while Vikram laments over what could have been had they stuck with the original franchise and it's themes. The feud continues over the use (or lack thereof) of dialogues in the movie, while Vikram fails to understand the under utilisation of Tom Hardy in this movie. The feud comes to a head over the storyline, and both argue over the U-turn this movie takes (quite literally) and how it's a good thing or bad. But for what it's worth, "Witness Me" is kinda cool, isn't it?  Don’t forget to vote and let the guys know who you think won this feud and also any arguments you might have made on facebook, instagram and twitter. A riveting film with unbelievable performances? Or, a forced drama with a comedian and two bad Boston accents? We feud, you decide! On this week's feud, the guys go head to head over Good Will Hunting. Vidur feels this is the best "therapist" movie of all time, barring one (re: Basic Instinct), while Vikram thinks Damon and Affleck's performances feel like they're "acting" like they're from Boston. They try to find some common ground over their favourite funnyman Robin William's performance, but obviously fail to do so. They discuss Vidur's love for math, which seemingly comes from Damon's emotional performance of a genius in this movie. And then Vikram tries to make Vidur cry by incessantly repeating "It's not your fault Vidur". Hint: It doesn't work.  Don’t forget to vote and let the guys know and also any arguments you might have made on facebook, instagram and twitter. Should a film depicting decades of gang violence in a Brazilian favela also teach us where our food comes from? Vikram and Vidur explore this and other important topics on this week's feud as they argue over the show's first a highly lauded Brazilian film - City of God. Vikram's more passionate than he has ever been causing him to switch to his mother tongue in key moments. Vidur shares his unique strategy for rising to the top if he woke up in a favela tomorrow. Coming straight from the unreleased Film Feud archives, an episode that captures the early days of feuding when the passion to feud was at its highest (read: lots of cursing) and many-a-foreign-films were watched with glee. On this week's episode, the guys debate The Hunt, a danish mystery drama film starring Mads Mikkelsen. The feud gets off to a jumpy start when Vidur compares a (not so) well meaning little girl to Damien Omen, and Vikram gushes over how well shot the entire movie is. They both find some common ground over the cinematography of the movie, but things heat up when the guys differ over the emotions that this movie invokes. Scenes are compared to the 1997 Bollywood epic, “Border”. The words “Harry Styles” and “Oscar” are uttered in the same sentence. Dreary unnecessary complex storytelling that lacked an emotional core?
