54: Mindy Rickles on her comedy career and the influence she got from her dad, Don Rickles
Comedian Mindy Rickles joins Rachael today and it's a good one! Mindy tells Rachael about growing up "in virtual squalor in Beverly Hills," survived her upbringing by Barbara and Don Rickles and spent most every Christmas and Hannukah in Las Vegas on the lawn of the Sahara Hotel where she was entertained by the cooks and maids. They discuss Mindy's comedy career and how Jeff Garlin encouraged her to start doing standup. Mindy has performed all around the country at the most prominent comedy clubs and has been in several movies and TV shows. Mindy tells Rachael her early years dating in Los Angeles, before she met her husband, who plays so many roles in Mindy's life in between her naps and bubble baths. Rachael is fascinated by her growing up around people like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, but that was just a typical Tuesday for Mindy. They also touch on their mutual love for true crime. Mindy could definitely be a forensic scientist. Mindy's natural knack for self-deprecating humor makes this episode a must listen!!
