Ep 190: GIRLvsCANCER with Lauren Mahon
Lauren Mahon is an inspirational bad-ass. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in her early 30’s and is now, quite literally changing the face of cancer. She joins Harriet, Natalie and guest-host June Sarpong (standing in for Emma’s week off), in the studio this week, to talk about being fed up with the perceptions that cancer is a disease for the over 50’s. Lauren chats about how she started GIRLvsCancer, a place for fierce women affected by the disease, to ‘feel empowered to deal with the sh*t show that a diagnosis means’.
In the news, Harriet, Natalie and June discuss botox on the high street following this week’s announcement that Superdrug will now offer in-store cosmetic injections; the detrimental impact of appalling no fault evictions with Hannah Slater, Policy and Public Affairs Manager at Generation Rent, a not-for-profit campaign group for private renters and of course, pay tribute to Queen Badass Aretha Franklin, who sadly passed away this week.
