Time's Up for Big Brother

By Daft Doris

Stand by for a special Big Brother tribute show.

Jamie East reflects on the news that Channel 5 will no longer continue with Big Brother with views from fans and friends who work on the show. He asks what has changed - is it the way we watch reality TV, or the format itself?

He’s joined by Iain Coyle, former executive producer on Big Brother for some brilliant revelations!

Iain’s a producer, presenter and comedian these days, but he was the first producer of Big Brother’s Bit on the Side spinoff show. He explains why he thinks the death of Big Brother is a good thing and how younger viewers expect something different these days.

They talk about the ins and outs of the Big Brother audition and production process, the move to Channel 5. There are some secrets about the press party ahead of the Richard Desmond Channel 5 launch, featuring cigars and a Rolls Royce(!)

Iain started out developing the tasks on Celebrity Big Brother 3 and talks through his contributions to the show’s evolution. He shares the truth about THAT Shilpa Shetty / Jade Goody scandal and reveals that O.J. Simpson was supposed to be in the house that year too.

Iain’s now the comedy commissioner for Dave at UKTV. He tells Jamie what he’s looking for in our future TV hits.
