Frances Fisher, Actress – The Film Scene
TODAY: Frances Fisher, English actress whose career spans from the Broadway to Hollywood. She began her career starring in off-Broadway productions, and spent much of her younger life touring theaters on the East Coast before breaking out into television with the role of Detective "Red" Saxon in the ABC series The Edge of Night. Her television career flourished after that, and she would go on to play strong women characters in dozens of TV series. She is also well known for her film roles, with notables including Strawberry Alice in Clint Eastwood's Western epic Unforgiven, as well as Ruth Bukater in James Cameron's Titanic, and most recently as Miss Abbot in the Amazon series An American Girl Story – Melody 1963: Love Has to Win.
