EPISODE 44: A crazy rich favour of a podcast ("Crazy Rich Asians" and "A Simple Favour" review)
Hello Filmy People!
This week we have 2 reviews for your ear holes! First up we review Crazy Rich Asians, this film started life as a hugely successful series of books written by Kevin Kwan, and has made the transition to film. Directed by Jon M. Chu, Crazy Rich Asians is the first western produced film in 25 years to contain a predominantly Asian heritage cast. The film follows the story of Rachel Chu, a Chinese- American economics professor, meeting her boyfriend Nicks’ family at a wedding in Singapore.
Although they have been dating for a year Nick has omitted certain details of his family and heritage, namely that he is an heir to one of China’s richest families and that they are “Crazy Rich”. Rachel discovers this on route to Singapore as well as all the cultural and political aspects of acceptance from this very traditional, crazy, but hard to please family.
We also review "A SIMPLE FAVOR", directed by Paul Feig, centers around Stephanie (Anna Kendrick), a mommy vlogger who seeks to uncover the truth behind her best friend Emily's (Blake Lively) sudden disappearance from their small town.
