Ep 314: Learning Real Love and Respect with Holly Bourne
Are your favourite love films portraying actually damaging relationships?
On this extra snippet from the show is author Holly Bourne, Holly is an ambassador for Women’s Aid, together they have created a campaign aiming to educate teenagers about healthy relationships and the different forms that domestic abuse can take. Love Respect is a website that offers advice and stories showing what genuine healthy love looks like.
Holly explains to Harriet, and the ladies why we could be mistaking love for abuse within relationships, she believes that popular film and tv story lines are actually depicting stories of abusive relationships, even cult favourites like “Love Actually”.
They also ask why abusers take advantage within their relationships and if the perpetrator even realises they are doing anything wrong in the first place?
Also a listener of the show rings up to speak about his own experience with the domestic abuse system and how he has recovered, he shares his own advice for recognising your own possibly abusive behaviour.
