Episode #64 Guide To... THE SIMPSONS

By This British Life Podcast

This week on the Vialucci Podcast, hosts Theo, Charles and Andrew take a look at the history of 'The Simpsons'. We realised during our recordings of the podcast that we quite often make some kind of reference to 'The Simpsons', whether it's a direct quote or how the show has an uncanny ability to predict current events. So we felt it was high time we touch on how this iconic cartoon has permeated the culture, how it all began, how it has changed over time and if and when it might finally come to an end. We also discuss controversies ranging from internal struggles within 'The Simpsons' production, its rivalries with other cartoons that has either lead to reconciliation or deepening divisions, the "Problem With Apu" (and also the "Problem With A Poo"), the many, many cameos, which storylines have not aged well and those that have stood the test of time. Regardless of what you may think of 'The Simpsons' now, like Theo, Charles and Andrew you'll probably laugh along as we share some of our favourite moments from its 'Golden Age', and feel a sense of warmth when discussing more heartfelt scenes. So jump on the sofa, open up a can of that wonderful Duff and say your prayers you heathen baboons!
