Colts Cast: Colts win third straight on shoulders of their defense in Week 4 victory over Bears

By SB Nation

The Indianapolis Colts (3-1) have now won their third straight game since coming up short in their Week 1 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Sunday, the Colts' defense continued their stingy play, stuffing the Chicago Bears' running game, and holding the Bears' offense to 4 of 14 on third down attempts. The Colts offense wasn't mistake free, however, they did keep from giving the ball away, and were able to put enough on the scoreboard to keep control of the game. On the flipside, the Colts struggled to run the ball, they weren't good in the red zone (1-4), there were a couple very near misses (near interceptions), and Philip Rivers wasn't accurate on some pretty simple throws by the NFL's standards. The Colts continue to get quality defensive performances from DeForest Buckner, Justin Houston, Julian Blackmon, and maybe more surprisingly, from Xavier Rhodes. Additionally, Mo Alie-Cox has become a go-to option for Rivers, and is in need of another playmaker as the Colts' offense has produced only 7 touchdowns in four games, and Alie-Cox has two of them. While that within itself isn't an issue, until you realize that T.Y. Hilton has zero. Or the fact that Trey Burton got as many targets in Week 4 as Jack Doyle has all season (5). The Colts are still winning, but they're definitely missing the likes of Marlon Mack, Michael Pittman, and the big play ability from Paris Campbell. The Colts have so much going for them right now, and we'll swoon over that on today's show, but we're also going to get into where the Colts are struggling which desperately needs to be improved if the Colts are to be considered legit contenders going forward.
