Most dancers know instinctually if they are going to work well as partners. The first few minutes are the most important, and usually tell both performers everything they need to know. Sometimes dancers can spend far too much time trying to emulate the top dancers, instead of carving out their own niche, and drawing from their own individuality. It is this realisation that transforms dance into art.
