- A few large content creators have closed down original podcast creation teams
- We have seen this before - usually related to costs vs revenue = audience growth?
- Podcasts can be created that have high value, but for low cost.
- Audience growth expectations can often times be unrealistic with high expectations of audience/revenue opens door to acceptance of high costs
- Podcasting medium is growing slowly, the hype of the medium is creating expectations
- Very small market for podcast series that have 5-10 people production teams
- Very high ad revenue growth expectations in market - but to hit the numbers we need more inventory that advertisers want to buy into
- Revenge of the Independents???
How we grow overall audience listening to podcasts globally?
- All podcasters have responsibility to get out and meet potential audience in the real world
- Promote Google Podcasts as much as possible as Android has Huge upside growth
- Ask current audience to tell their friends/colleagues about your podcast and how to listen
- Google needs to get there podcast listening platform focused
- Think creatively about how to market your show to potential new listeners in your genre
