Last week, a major US oil pipeline was hacked and held for ransom. The Colonial Pipeline shut down in an effort to stop the hackers, causing a major disruption in the oil industry. The pipeline serves 14 states, and stretches from Texas to New Jersey. If shut down long enough, gas prices could rise amid fuel shortages. But why would hackers target an oil pipeline?
