Txai Suruí: The Indigenous youth leader fighting to save the Amazon

“We need to do something now. The Amazon is dying.” In this episode of Clear The Air, Sadiq Khan is joined by Txai Suruí, a climate activist and Indigenous leader from the Brazilian Amazon. Txai tells Sadiq what it was like to be the only Indigenous woman to speak at the opening ceremony of COP26 climate summit in Glasgow. She has a warning for world leaders about the impact of climate change on her homeland, the marginalisation of Indigenous voices and the dangers of being an environmental activist in Brazil.
