Arsenal kept their title-challenging form going by beating West Ham in front of a returning Arsène Wenger.
Newcastle United also carried on their ominous pre-World Cup form by swatting aside Leicester City.
Yorkshireman Erling Haaland returned to his place of birth. His two goals for Manchester City against Leeds United saw him become the fastest player to reach twenty goals in the Premier League.
Plus Chelsea and Manchester United picked up wins as they try and regain some lost ground after stuttering starts.
At the bottom, there’s disagreement over the prospects for Nathan Jones at Southampton.
But there’s consensus that Everton are in troubling form; the sort that may not see Frank Lampard’s time in the Goodison dugout last much longer.
