142: How to revolutionise your sleep with Professor Russell Foster
On today's show, I have the absolutely magnificent Professor. Russell Foster, who is one of the world's leading sleep and body clock doctors in the world. Professor Russell is a professor of circadian neuroscience at Oxford, and he has just written a true gift of a book that combines his decades of research and teaching to create a practical, easy to read, deeply informative book called Life Time: The New Science of the Body Clock and How It Can Revolutionise Your Sleep and Health.
Perhaps the most surprising part of the book is that Professor Foster says there is no 'one size fits all' in terms of sleep. It's not helpful to think that everyone should be aiming for eight hours sleep a night, for example, or even that the holy grail is to sleep right through the night without waking up. In this episode, he explains sleep that you need is linked to your genetics and environment and can change over the course of your life. It's such a fascinating conversation and I can't wait for you all to hear it!
