115: The power of love in reshaping our brain with Stephanie Cacioppo

By Poppy Jamie

I am so excited to introduce you to today's guest who is one of the world's most famous neuroscientists on the topic of romantic love. Dr. Stephanie Cacioppo. Dr. Stephanie is a professor of psychiatry and behavioural neuroscience at the University of Chicago, where she directs the Brain Dynamics Laboratory at the Pritzker School of Medicine.

She's the first female president of the Society for Social Neuroscience, an international field dedicated to understanding how biological systems implement social behaviours and modern society. She's been named a rising star by the Association for Psychological Science, for her outstanding contributions to the science of psychology in the areas of research, teaching and or application. And she's won further awards for her research on the neuro imaging of love in clinical case reports.

In her new book, Wired for Love, Stephanie tackles not just a science story, but also a love story. She shares revelatory insights into how and why we fall in love, what makes love last, and how we process love lost. It’s all grounded in cutting edge findings in brain chemistry and behavioural science and underlying it all is her very own moving personal love story and how she has managed to heal her own heartbreak.
