Barcelona's football director Mateu Alemany looks set to join Aston Villa this summer after deciding to leave the Spanish giants this week.

BirminghamLive understands that Villa have opened negotiations to appoint Alemany in a key role within the club. Villa are hopeful a deal can be struck and the 60-year-old can begin working at Bodymoor Heath in time for the summer window to open.
