"Don't come to sit on your hands and criticise" said Graeme Souness to the Rangers support via Radio Clyde in January of 1991, with his side 12 games into an unbeaten of 17 - the longest of his reign. Despite a league position of great strength and a Old Firm cup win, Souness was losing control. The departure of Butcher, the loss of Kusnetzov, the hammering in Belgrade and the war with McCoist were just some of the flashpoints as the storm at Ibrox continued to rage.
