789 - AT&T Pebble Beach & LIV Mayakoba Recap Live Show
After the cancellation of the final round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am we look back at a pair of 54 hole tournaments with the PGA Tour's weather shortened weekend as well as the LIV season opener at Mayakoba.
We begin at Pebble where Wyndham Clark wins after a third, and final, round 60 - setting a new course record and beating Ludvig by a shot. We break down the finish and the decision making that led to the shortened format given the relative lack of options, and provide some context for how Clark's third round compares to other low rounds from recent years in pro golf.
We also look at the others on the leaderboard (19:00) including Ludvig, JT, Jason Day as well as the course setup, Clark's decision to turn LIV down and stay on the PGA Tour, Spieth and Rory's respective comments on the potential PIF investment into the Tour (40:00), off course rumblings, a review of Neil's top and bottom 10 from his pre-tournament power rankings, and some reflections from our time on-site at the tournament.
Then we turn our attention to Mayakoba for the LIV season opener (1:09:30) as Joaquin Niemann wins the individual title in a playoff over Sergio with Jon Rahm's team wins the team crown. As the only live golf broadcasted on Sunday, we take stock of the progress and remaining shortcomings of the league's team rosters, the broadcast product and upcoming tech advancements and more.
