Charles Horvath-Allan - Canada
In this episode, we recount the story of Charles Horvath-Allan, a 20 year old British man, who in 1989, left his home to hike across Canada, and has been missing ever since.
Charles had made it as far as the city of Kelowna, where he was last seen cashing a cheque at a bank in May. He was scheduled to meet his parents in Hong Kong that August. The fax he sent, detailing his excitement about their reunion and inquiring about the wellbeing of the family’s cats, was the last time they would ever hear from him.
We spoke to his mother Denise, about her decades long investigation into British Columbia’s backpacking circuit and about the impact her tireless search for the truth about what happened to her son has had on her.
