The end of Saracen’s European hopes, return of the Premiership and Montpellier’s Director of Rugby on recruiting the best No.8s in England

By Evening Standard

Lawrence is joined by Sarra Elgan and Evening Standard rugby correspondent, Nick Purewal, as they round up the results from the weekend’s European Champions Cup Quarter Finals. Their special guest is former French player and current Director of Rugby at Montpellier, Philippe Saint André, who shares how the team is feeling one week on from their dramatic, extra-time defeat to the Exeter Chiefs and why he’s so frustrated by the result.

Plus he offers an update on Luke Cowan-Dickie’s move to Montpellier, tells us how long he’s had Sam Simmonds on his radar, reveals why Zach Mercer has been so good for the club and explains the changes made to club rugby in France that have helped make the current national team so formidable.

Philippe also takes on Lawrence’s quickfire questions in ‘Tackled’.

Lawrence, Sarra and Nick also select their ‘Player of the Week’ and look ahead to the return of the Premiership this weekend as several clubs prepare to battle it out for a place in the top four.
