Victor Conte
Ron welcomes Victor Conte to the show to discuss his contribution to, and now crusade against, sports doping programs. With the help of bodybuilding chemist Patrick Arnold, Conte is credited with developing the banned steroid THG at the Bay Area Laboratory Co-operative (BALCO) he founded in 1984. In an interview on ABC's 20/20, he admitted to running doping programs that broke Olympic records. After his conviction and time served in prison, Conte's turned himself into a crusader to help rid sports of performance enhancing drug use. He co-wrote the 2008 book, BALCO: The Straight Dope on Barry Bonds, Marion and What We Can Do to Save Sports, and contributed to the 2015 documentary Doped: The Dirty Side of Sports that unmasks the dark reality of banned substance testing.
