The Spirited Actor - Alysia Joy Powell
Alysia Joy Powell is a native of Southern California that, currently,
resides in Brooklyn. Born of two parents who met in an acting class,
however starting her entertainment career late in her 20’s with
Gospel music. First as an artist, singing with the likes of Richard
Smallwood, Yolanda Adams and GMWA and singing back up for
Artists like Mary J. Blige, before managing artists.
She, then, realized her childhood dream of acting, having a 20+ year
career In Film, TV, and Stage with recent credits such as: Guest
starring roles on Bull, Billions, Random Acts of Flyness, Pose,
Recurring on Mysteries of Laura and currently Recurring as
Wyndolyn Capers on Orange Is The New Black. She is pursuing her
talents behind the camera, as well, as a Director and writer the new
web series For EBC, St. James Pl and Co-Director/Actress for the TV
Pilot, Boys and Girls. She is, also, working on her One Woman Show,
Different Shades of Love, which was featured in the Emerging Artist
Festival, that is written by her.
She is, patiently, waiting to see what God has for her next as she
explores her other gifts and talent such as; screenwriting, stand up,
teaching acting, singing, making jewelry for her jewelry line "MY
Diva-Tude", the designing of her Plus size clothing line “A.Joy”, and
the completion of writing her TV Pilots, Façade’ and M’dame Joy. She
just returned from Cleveland, shooting the Fred Hampton Project,
playing opposite Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out). Alysia Joy Powell is a force
