REP: Deacon Jones Remembered
Rosey Grier, Michael Irvin, Warren Sapp, Jack Youngblood, Jennifer Allen and Willie McGinest... The game lost a legend on Monday after the passing of Pro Football Hall of Famer David "Deacon" Jones. This special edition of "The Rich Eisen Podcast" recounts the profound impact that Deacon had, both on and off the gridiron. The final surviving member of “The Fearsome Foursome,” Rosey Grier, joins Rich to remember his teammate and longtime friend. Joining Grier and Rich during the interview is fellow Hall of Famer Michael Irvin and class of 2013 inductee Warren Sapp, who share their memories of Deacon. Rich then dials up yet another Hall of Famer, as Jack Youngblood joins the podcast to discuss what it was like learning from “The Secretary of Defense” as a rookie with the Los Angeles Rams, and also shares some good stories from their days in Canton, Ohio, for Hall of Fame inductions. Jennifer Allen, the daughter of Hall of Fame coach George Allen and sister to Washington Redskins GM Bruce Allen, phones in to share her unique perspective on Deacon. Jones was an extremely close family friend of the Allens while Jennifer was growing up and remained such until his death Monday. And lastly, our own Willie McGinest stops by the studio to share what Deacon meant to him as an outside linebacker/defensive end who played in the league 30-plus years after Deacon did, and what it was like meeting and talking to him at various NFL events they would both be at together throughout the years. Enjoy, and as always, thanks for downloading!
