Biden’s peace push, Walz at DNC, Canada rail strike and Jackson Hole
U.S. President Joe Biden has pressed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the urgency of sealing a deal for a truce in Gaza. Vice presidential candidate Tim Walz has vowed that he and presidential running mate Kamala Harris would triumph over Republican Donald Trump in November's U.S. election. Canadian National Railway and Canadian Pacific Kansas City have shut down their rail networks and locked out nearly 10,000 workers, after unsuccessful negotiations with a major labor union. The Jackson Hole symposium gets underway later, but attention is on the hotly anticipated speech by Fed Chair Jerome Powell on Friday.
