Why job security is overrated (and why you want CAREER security instead)
Job security isn’t what it used to be. We’re no longer living in a world where you can expect to work for the same company for 30 years (and most of us probably wouldn’t want to!). We can’t control the economic environment, or the whims of our employer in going through a restructure, or changing employment conditions (hello return to office).
In this week’s episode, Sarah and Emma define career security, and talk about why it’s WAY more important (and in your control) than job security. We then talk about how you can make sure you’re always working on your career security, not only when you’re job searching - a must listen for uncertain times!
🏀 Shoot Your Shot - Shoutout to Lillian who bought us 5 coffees! “Emma and Sarah, I owe you my life! I was completely burnt out on my job search but still desperate to leave my really toxic work environment. I would listen to your podcast all day while I was at the office, and it totally helped me shift my mindset and get me feeling more positive and excited about my career change! And then I started getting requests for interviews!! I listened to the "before interview" episode literally three or four times before every interview I had. I went in feeling like a total badass and knowing they'd be lucky to have me join their team, and then I kept my nerves afterwards at bay with your "after interview" episode. Thanks to all your tips and motivation, I crushed all of my interviews and ended up accepting an offer that literally DOUBLED my salary! When I get that first paycheck, you're getting a ton more coffees because I truly can't thank you enough for your excellent advice and encouragement! Keep up the good work, queens👑! Love from the USA”
